The Project for Awesome (P4A) is an annual fundraiser that takes place on YouTube. For the past three years, Sustainability Matters has won critical funding through Project for Awesome, thanks to your incredible support. Competing against major nonprofits like UNICEF and the World Wildlife Fund, we’ve secured grants to power initiatives like Making Trash Bloom and Rewilding Winchester—and we couldn’t have done it without you!
Now, we need your help again. This year’s funding will support Making History Bloom, an effort to remove invasive species and restore native habitat along the W&OD Trail, the nation's first urban Rails to Trails park in Northern Virginia, creating vital wildlife corridors. We are removing invasive species that have overtaken much of the 45-mile-long trail and replacing them with native meadows—creating a home for butterflies, bees, and other wildlife in an area increasingly dominated by developments and data centers.
You can support this work by voting for Sustainability Matters. Voting will open on Tuesday, February 11 at 12:00 PM and run through Wednesday, February 19 at 11:59 AM. You can vote once per device—so be sure to use your phone, laptop, tablet, and anything else you have!
Thank you for your support in helping transform the W&OD Trail into a thriving native ecosystem!
